Hey I am Ruben the plant sitter, let me tell you a bit more about myself.
When moving to Brussels in 2018, my biggest fear was the lack of nature a city like Brussels would have to offer. Therefore I decided to keep adding plants to our home until it started feeling like a real indoor jungle!
As soon as friends heard about my plant passion, they asked me to help repot a plant, to help identify their plants pest infestation or to help them water their plants when on vacation. By doing this, I realized I found immense joy in caring for plants. Even when visiting friends, I'm often found with my thumb in their plants soil, doing a quick health check, it somehow became an irresistible reflex.
It was my devotion to our home jungle and the lack of a vacation plant watering service in Brussels, that made me turn my passion into a profession. I'm sure there are lots of plant owners in Brussels needing someone to water their plants while away. Well, from now on you can be sure to find your plants back as if you have never left. Hi! I am Lydia, I am a Dutch Language Coach in Brussels, and I am also a plant lover, but unfortunately, I don't have a green thumb like Ruben does. Having my clients over, I always want to make sure that they feel at home and welcomed into our little jungle. That's why I love strolling around in Brussels and finding inspiration in my favourite plant markets.
While Ruben's expertise is of caring for your plants, I will make sure you feel welcomed when you visit us for a personal key handover and make sure we know exactly what your plants needs are, so you can leave on your holiday without having to worry about a thing.

Finding vacation plant care in Brussels
Living in the heart of Brussels, we are clearly surrounded by lots of other plant lovers. As we admire some neighbours' plant collection glansing through their window, we wonder what those people do when going on vacation, business trips, or long family visits abroad. From personal experience, we understand the challenges of finding a trustworthy plantsitter who does not only have the willingness and reliability but also understands the art of proper plant watering.
A personal example
We often use the platform HomeExchange, where our guests have the opportunity to enjoy our own Brussels Jungle. Despite it being a really awesome way to travel, I can't help but feel a bit stressed everytime we leave our plants in the hands of our guests. Even with their best intentions, we often return to find overwatered plants and rotting roots. Honestly, we can’t blame them. Implementing factors as lighting condition, temperature, humidity, plant type and pot size before you water is no easy task.
We started WaterMyPlants in 2023 because there is no other service for vacation plant care in Brussels.
Therefore we made it our niche to excell in giving you and your plants a worry-free vacation.

Ruben: ''Over the past six years, I've cared for over a hundred different sorts of houseplants, gaining valuable knowledge through trial and error. I've experimented with various pest control methods and fertilization techniques, but most important, the art of watering them. Here you see me holding an extremely rare kind of Monstera Adansonii Variegata that needs customised growing conditions. I read it's almost impossible to succesfully propagate so I build a customized terrarium and took it as challenge, with succes!''
